2016 University of New South Wales International Competitions and Assessments For Schools (Science)

 

We are pleased to announce that 13 girls attained Distinctions in the competition. Well done, girls!

 

 


  

Teacher's Day Celebrations cum ACES Day Workout (1 September)

 

The school will be celebrating Teacher's Day on Thursday, 1 September. We will begin the day with the ACES Day workout, followed by a class party and the Teacher's Day Concert. Students should bring their PE attire for the workout and will be dismissed at 11.30 am.

Tamil Language Competitions

'C' Division South Zone Basketball Tournament

 

SMSS basketballers fought with pride and were able to attain 2nd placing in the South Zone Basketball Tournament for C Division. 

 

 


   

Asian Science & Math Olympiad (ASMO) 2016

 

A group of 11 students from Secondary One participated in the Asian Science & Math Olympiad (ASMO) 2016. The ASMO is a competition that aims to stimulate student's interest and enthusiasm for problem-solving and develops mathematical intuition and logical thinking skills in students. We are proud to announce that the students attained the Gold Team Award, 1 individual Bronze Award, 4 individual Merit Awards and 6 Certificates of Participation. 

 


  

National Schools Literature Festival 2016

 

On Saturday, 16 July 2016, a group of 30 Secondary 1, Secondary 2 and Secondary 3 students participated in the National Schools Literature Festival held at CHIJ Katong Convent. The festival organised by a group of literature teachers nationwide aims to foster a love for literature by deepening the students' understanding of the written word. Our Secondary 1 students presented a book parade about their text Bridge to Terabithia and participated in a Choral Reading Competition. The Secondary 2 students presented a book trailer about their text Macbeth while the Secondary 3 students took part in the Unseen Poetry and Set Text Debate. The students have done us proud by clinching the following awards:
